In the battle against COVID-19, the Indian government has extended their nationwide lockdown. The lockdown has caused economic problems for India’s marginalised poor including the families that we work with. Most of the families rely on daily wages. Just one day with no work and no wages, brings immediate economic hardships. Daily workers rely on daily earnings in order to survive, they do not have any savings, neither do they have support systems to help them in these dire times.
ASHA is helping as many families as possible in this time of need, by distributing relief packages, containing essential items for families. For NZ$42 one family will receive a package containing food supplies and sanitary and protective items. The relief packages will be distributed by members of our ASHA team, in the presence of government representatives.
NZ$42 will assist one (1) family.
